Privacy Policy
We collect the minimum information needed to run the service — what you sign in with, how your subscription is billed, and the support messages you send. We don't sell personal information.
What we collect
When you use FMCSA Lookup, we collect only what we need:
- Account
- Name, email, and profile picture — supplied by Google when you sign in.
- Subscription
- Plan, status, and current period end. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that.
- Saved data
- Inspection points reports you choose to save and motor carriers you bookmark as favorites.
- Support messages
- Any text you send via the in-app chat. Forwarded to our admin's Telegram inbox and stored in our database.
- Technical
- IP address (for rate limiting), browser type, and request timestamps. Logged transiently and not used for marketing.
Violation searches are processed in real time — the queries themselves are not tied to your account. Selections in the points calculator stay in your browser unless you explicitly save them.
How we use it
- Authenticate you on every visit
- Manage your subscription and bill correctly
- Show you your own saved inspections and favorite carriers
- Reply to your support questions
- Protect the service from abuse (rate limiting, error monitoring)
We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Retention
- Account info: kept while your account is active.
- Saved inspections + favorites: kept until you delete them.
- Chat messages: kept for support history.
- Payment records: retained by Stripe as required by US tax and financial regulations (typically 7 years).
Your rights
You can self-serve from within the app at any time:
Export your data
Download a JSON snapshot of everything we hold about your account (profile, subscription, saved inspections, favorites, chat history).

Delete your account
Cancels your Stripe subscription and permanently deletes your account record + all related data.

For anything else (corrections, questions), message us via the in-app chat. We respond within one business day.
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under CCPA: the right to know what personal information we hold, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information.
We do not sell personal information.The “Export your data” and “Delete my account” buttons above implement the right-to-know and right-to-delete in self-service form. No support ticket required.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page along with a new “Last updated” date. Major changes (e.g., a new third-party data processor) will also be announced via the in-app chat to active subscribers.
